Welcome to the latest and greatest. This is where we write about our events and what we have been doing lately. In our Press Room section, you can see what others (media) have been reporting and writing about our 'furry kids' and our organization. Fortunately, there is good news between all the heartache and tough times. We have been blessed with wonderful adopters, volunteers and generous people who have donated their time, contributed money, food, and other valuable donations. You will be able to meet some of them on these pages. If you would like to be a part of GSROC extended family by either becoming a volunteer, sponsor or foster home, please click the appropriate links from the main menu above.

LOCAL AUTHOR PAYS TRIBUTE TO GSROC!
12/14/2007 5:09:36 PM
We feel proud and fortunate that popular Laguna Beach-based author Marie Ferrarella has dedicated her most recent novel to GSROC! Marie is the respected author of more than 100 fictional works and the proud momma of Audrey Hepburn! Her latest book, "Capturing The Millionaire", features a beautiful heroinne who is a veterinarian and animal rescuer! Marie based her characters and some of the vignettes loosely on stories of individual GSROC rescues! We won't spoil the reading for you, but we know for sure that our little Winchester makes a cameo appearance, as do several other dogs that have come through our safety net on their way to their happily ever after homes! Our organization is featured prominently in the text, and Marie even gave us a beautiful dedication. Once you've read "Capturing The Millionaire", check out some of her other novels as well! GSROCs....AND ROLLS!

The GSROC rescue van has has just undergone an extreme makeover and it's taking to the streets! Thanks to the generosity and talent of our wonderful artistic team, we now have a rolling billboard to promote compassion. Hopefully, by getting our message out there, we will be able to let more people know about the plight of homeless dogs, as well as to invite more people to choose the rescue option. Watch for us rollin' down the road near you!

GSROC SUPPORTERS LOVE OUR ANNUAL BRUNCH!
12/6/2007 12:56:04 PM
We're delighted to report that our 3rd annual Fall Brunch at the world-famous Spaghetti Bender restaurant was a tremendous success. The delicious food, good friends, and incredible silent auction drew adopters and volunteers from all over the county for an afternoon of relaxing fun. Everyone went home with a 'goody bag' filled with fun dog-lover items, and some lucky winners went home with incredible raffle prizes such as a Sony digital camera, a digital photo frame, and an enormous basket of dog toys, treats, supplements and grooming aids. If you haven't been to this event, you're missing out! It's the perfect fall afternoon for anyone who loves animals and wants to make a difference. Be sure to join us next year!

We're pinching ourselves with excitement and pride over the amazing achievements of Sunny, once an orphan in our care. Since being adopted by her wonderful mommy, Thea, Sunny has become one of the top GSD agility dogs IN THE COUNTRY! Sunny has earned numerous titles and ribbons (some of the ribbons are as big as she is!) for her impressive abilities. Sunny has competed in state and regional agility trials, taking home top honors in the Nationals that were held in Colorado last month!

HERDING DOGS, UNITE!
11/5/2007 11:13:01 PM
Well, McDuff isn't exactly a German Shepherd, but he WAS rescued by GSROC last year when we were called in to assist dogs that had been kept in unpeakable conditions by a "hoarder" (dog collector) in Kern County. After enduring some of his life in the prison-like compound of the dog hoarder, McDuff (Duffy to his friends) was rescued and brought to safety by GSROC. One of our wonderful volunteers who has a soft spot for herding breeds learned of Duffy's plight and immediately welcomed him into her home. As you can see, under Diane's great care and guidance, Duffy has flourished! Just look at how proud he is after winning his second consecutive sheep herding competition title! Despite a long drive to the training facility, his devoted adopters take him regularly to compete so that he can show off his amazing talents. (We hate to say it, but Duffy is a better herder than some of his German Shepherds cousins, and he just loves to do his work!) Can you imagine that this gifted dog shared a small a coop-like cag
