GSROC REPRESENTS GERMAN BREED DOGS AT IT’S A SMALL PET WORLD |
10/28/2006 1:01:51 AM
The City of Rancho Cucamonga celebrated the grand opening of their animal shelter, which aspires toward becoming a no-kill shelter. The theme of the celebration was “It’s a Small Pet World”. Those who attended the event were given a passport where they could visit a variety of country-themed booths and learn about different breeds from that country. One of the stops was the Germany booth. Naturally, GSROC was invited to bring a few furry friends to represent one of the most popular breeds from Germany. Four of our cuddly canines, including

KEEP THOSE CELL PHONES COMING! |
10/25/2006 1:37:18 PM
We're delighted to report that thanks to your continued participation, we have already raised more than $200 through our cell phone recycling program! This is great news, considering that we have only been collecting phones for a little more than two months. Please help us to spread the word about this great way to help our orphans and help the environment at the same time! Ask your friends, neighbors, family and work mates to give us their phones so that we can keep this great momentum going! All makes and models of cell phones are accepted; memory chips and ID information are shredded as the first step in the recycling process. To learn more about how you can help the shepherds in this easy and fun way, please contact chowski681@yahoo.com

#76 IS SAVED! |
10/12/2006 1:18:43 AM
We are proud and relieved to say that the Kern County dog that we previously knew only as Number 76 is safe and sound in our care! If you recall, our volunteers first met this dog when we were rescuing several purebred shepherds from a horrible "collector" situation in Kern County. As our volunteer was removing Caesar from his pen, one of his pen-mates made a run for freedom. The dog literally wanted us to take him with us away from the horrors of the canine concentration camp. Our van was full and it devastated us to have to leave Number 76 behind after our first trip, but we returned to liberate him (and a few more prisoners) very soon after! Number 76 is now known as Thorr, which may or may not have been his name. In addition to not keeping accurate medical records on the 112 dogs in his collection, the "owner" wasn't entirely sure of the dogs' names either--some dogs had no names, some dogs had two names, as in the case of Thorr who is also known as Tucker. We can't figure it out, but we are completely

STARR IS OUR MISS OCTOBER! |
10/12/2006 12:51:15 AM
Our beautiful Starr looks like a sugar cookie that has been baked in the oven! She is all white with light buff markings sprinkled on top. Starr is a 2 year old girl who is appreciative of every kindness. She gets along well with dogs her own size, but kitties are not welcome in her castle. Starr has a gentle, loving demeanor and she is on the shy side. We believe that she would do best in a quiet home without a lot of commotion. She loves to be brushed and fawned over. Starr is in a loving foster home where she is learning her house manners. She has never known the comfort of a family because prior to arriving at GSROC she was used for breeding by an uncaring owner. Come meet her--we think you will be "Starr-struck"!!

Miss Maggy Has a Million Dollar Smile! |
10/2/2006 3:36:33 PM
Gorgeous Maggy is our October calendar girl! She is a robust and confident shepherd with classic markings and conformation. Maggy is approximately 4 years old and knows her basic commands. She walks well on a leash but is very strong, so she would do best in a family that is active and experienced. Maggy loves people of all sizes and shapes, but she prefers to be the only princess in the palace because she gets jealous if other animals receive attention that could be coming her way. Maggy is a great find for someone looking for a loyal and happy companion. To learn more about Maggy, click on her
