Welcome to the latest and greatest. This is where we write about our events and what we have been doing lately. In our Press Room section, you can see what others (media) have been reporting and writing about our 'furry kids' and our organization. Fortunately, there is good news between all the heartache and tough times. We have been blessed with wonderful adopters, volunteers and generous people who have donated their time, contributed money, food, and other valuable donations. You will be able to meet some of them on these pages. If you would like to be a part of GSROC extended family by either becoming a volunteer, sponsor or foster home, please click the appropriate links from the main menu above.

Dogs Day Out At Kiwanis Club's PuppyPalooza!
|
|
5/6/2013 7:19:18 PM
GSROC extends our sincere appreciation to the kind people at the Kiwanis Club of Placentia for their hospitality at their first annual, "PuppyPalooza" event. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the dogs enjoyed all of the attention from animal lovers of all ages. Some of them even dreamed of careers in law enforcement, as evidenced by their fun poses. We love supporting community events that focus on responsible pet guardianship, and the Placentia PuppyPalooza didn't disappoint. We even had a few cameo appearances from GSROC alum dogs who wanted in on the fun. See you next year in Placentia?!

We feel so proud to have the next generation of dog rescuers working hard to help our orphans! These resourceful and motivated 9-year-old girls baked assorted yummy treats and sold them to friends, neighbors, and family members over 2 days' time. They were wildly successful, presenting GSROC with more than $250.00 raised through their efforts! We are not only grateful to these young ladies but sincerely impressed with their entrepreneurial talents! Thank you to our wonderful junior volunteers for their wonderful work!

EAGLE SCOUT ROLLS UP HIS SLEEVES TO HELP SHEPHERDS!

Jack Pitts is an extraordinary individual. Not only is he an Eagle Scout, he's a young man with a warm heart for dogs in need. When Jack learned that many of our boarding dogs were without elevated beds, he wasted no time getting to work. As part of his community assistance project for Troop 1180, Jack raised funds on his own to buy the supplies necessary to make 18 German Shepherd-sized elevated cots. The cots get the dogs up off the concrete and give them comfy resting spots in which to lounge and sunbathe. Once he had secured the funds, Jack purchased waterproof materials and single-handedly built the 18 beds. The beds required sawing, cutting, building and fastening, as well as transportation to the boarding kennel. Each step of the way was an investment of love and commitment from Jack, who took pride and comfort in seeing the dogs' reactions to their new furnishings! On behalf of the entire GSROC organization, HUGE thanks to Jack Pitts and his family, and to Troop 1180 for these thoughtful and practical gifts!

All of our dogs send their gratitude to the Troy High School ASPCA Club for their generous donations! The Club, led by Assistant Principal Scott MacIntyre, focuses on assisting animals throughout the local community. They raised several hundred dollars through their philanthropic efforts and presented our dogs with some great supplies. As you can see, Rocco is just beaming with happiness over this treasure trove! We appreciate the hard work and compassion of this hard-working team of animal lovers!

GSROC STAR MEETS OLYMPIC STAR!
|
|
1/12/2013 9:36:16 PM
Guess who stopped by to give a wonderful home to a deserving dog? Olympic superstar Amanda Beard and her family! Well known for earning 7 Olympic swimming medals, as well as being named American Swimmer of the Year twice, Amanda has earned the hearts of America for her commitment to being the best at whatever she undertakes. A busy mom and an active animal advocate, Amanda fell head over heels for little 6-month old Annie, who, as luck would have it, loves to swim! We are so happy that Annie will live in a happy family with love surrounding her every day, and we thank Amanda for joining the ranks of the GSROC Pack!
