Welcome to the latest and greatest. This is where we write about our events and what we have been doing lately. In our Press Room section, you can see what others (media) have been reporting and writing about our 'furry kids' and our organization. Fortunately, there is good news between all the heartache and tough times. We have been blessed with wonderful adopters, volunteers and generous people who have donated their time, contributed money, food, and other valuable donations.?You will be able to meet some of them on these pages. If you would like to be a part of GSORC extended family by either becoming a volunteer, sponsor or foster home, please click the appropriate links from the main menu above.

WELCOME HOME, LILLY!

9/15/2008 9:53:56 PM

Once an unwanted orphan, Lilly is now living the good life as a highly regarded Good Will Ambassador for the residents of Silverado Senior Living Center. Along with three other canine friends, Lilly is in charge of seeing to it that each resident receives his/her daily dose of unconditional love. Lilly is free to roam the hallways where she enjoys a showering of affection from each resident, who reaches out with open arms to embrace, caress, and love her. We are very proud of Lilly, and are grateful that she has finally found her forever home where all her dreams can now come true! Welcome home, sweet Lilly! Welcome home!

Thousands of spectators and hundreds of pristine vintage cars lined the streets for the 19th annual Belmont Shore Car Show. This wonderful event draws close to 50,000 car enthusiasts and helps raise funds for many local charities. Our booth looked great, and our dogs were on their best behavior, basking in the sunshine and enjoying gentle ocean breezes. Kudos to our team for the great handling of our booth, our dogs, and for helping to make this day a fantastic one!

GSROC DOGS ON uTUBE

9/7/2008 9:22:06 PM

Two of our dedicated volunteers have created a beautiful, moving tribute to the dogs in our care. Better get out the tissue to watch this uTube video featuring some of our orphans who haven't yet found their forever families. Jake and Roxy, you are the best! Thank you for this labor of love.

Puppies, Puppies, and More Puppies!

8/23/2008 9:51:20 AM

If it can rain cats and dogs, could it also rain puppies? GSROC certainly thinks so. In recent months, GSROC has experienced a significant spike in the number of puppies coming through our doors. Not wanting the mother dogs to whelp and raise their babies in isolation or innocent puppies to learn about life on their own, our caring volunteers and foster families opened up their hearts and homes to help raise, socialize and eventually find homes for these precious animals. These dedicated volunteers lovingly donated countless hours of their time to nurture and eventually help each puppy find their forever home.

To all our volunteers and foster families, WE THANK YOU!

If you are interested in becoming a foster home for one of our dogs in need,

RED, WHITE, BLUE...and ORANGE!!!

8/23/2008 9:42:34 AM

With our banner held high, GSROC proudly marched with honor as the FIRST rescue ever to be invited to participate in the 104 year old Huntington Beach Independence Day parade! Our enthusiastic volunteers showcased our rescue with great professionalism, and all the dogs were very well behaved. We could swear that the dogs were beaming over all of the attention that they were getting! Our dedicated volunteers took extra care of the dogs by providing plenty of water and even wagons for those that wanted a break.

As the parade wound its way along historic Main Street, parade-goers marveled at the sight of our beautiful dogs marching with heads held high and orange bandanas shimmering in the sunlight. We know that much of the public at large is not aware of the number of homeless shepherds we have right here in the OC community. GSROC couldn’t have asked for a better venue to showcase our magnificent dogs and we are grateful to=2 0the City of Huntington Beach for allowing us to participate.

KOGS GRADUATES ANOTHER CLASS!

7/24/2008 6:57:15 AM

We recently completed the third KOGS (Kids and Dogs) training session in Santa Ana. Roger and Jeff, at YDT, continue to be great with the teenagers and the kids have benefited tremendously from having positive male role models in their lives. One of our young men worked with Denver for the entire session and it was amazing to watch the two of them together. Another teen had the chance to practice being assertive in a positive way and Roger offered him his first part time job after the promotion. As you can see, the KOGS program and our dogs have made a tremendous impact on the lives of some high risk teenagers. Thank you to all our volunteers for your time and support with this fantastic program.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! This was the most amazing trip to New York. Hope you enjoy the pictures. We even found a GSD in Central Park to pose with!

Lodie and I are looking forward to our next visit to New York, but for now the memories will remind us for many years to come of the great time we had in New York. We will definitely be sharing our amazing experience and pictures with all our friends and family.

We can’t say it enough! Please thank Career Transition for Dancers for their kindness and hospitality. Their package coordinator, Kaylen, made us feel very special. They put together an unforgettable New York getaway package and thanks to the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County for raffling it off!

A GREAT TIME WITH GOOD FRIENDS

7/19/2008 7:41:44 PM

Old friends and new came together to share laughs and swap stories during our Murder Mystery fundraiser in June. Guests feasted on salmon, roasted chicken and vegetarian pasta as a tale of passion, betrayal and greed unfolded before their very eyes! Costumed performers belted out songs and a piano man set just the right mood while a clever detective examined the clues to uncover the villain. Everyone had a great time while raising a nice sum that will allow us to save more shepherds.

SHEPHERDS WALK THE WALK

7/7/2008 7:38:50 AM

Not even the heat could dampen the spirits of the enthusiastic volunteers, supporters and dogs who came together Saturday morning to participate in our first annual walk and run for GSROC! A special thank you to our wonderful sponsor, Gordon & Reese, LLP, who helped make our walk and run the huge success that it was. A fun day was enjoyed by all.

BIG GUY BONDING!

6/23/2008 8:35:44 PM

GSROC alumna, Zachary, was hanging out in his favorite doggie bakery when who should appear? None other than Kobe Bryant! Kobe took a moment to give Zachary a pat on the head and say, "Great! dog" to Zack's delighted caretakers, who snapped this quick shot. Zachary wasn't giving out any paw-tographs that day, but Kobe was cool about it!
