Welcome to the latest and greatest. This is where we write about our events and what we have been doing lately. In our Press Room section, you can see what others (media) have been reporting and writing about our 'furry kids' and our organization. Fortunately, there is good news between all the heartache and tough times. We have been blessed with wonderful adopters, volunteers and generous people who have donated their time, contributed money, food, and other valuable donations. You will be able to meet some of them on these pages. STUDENTS LEARN THE A, B, Cs OF RESPONSIBLE PET CARE

11/19/2011 6:36:36 PM

GSROC was invited to Post Elementary as a part of our humane education program. Ms. Adams' 4th Grade class sat spellbound as they learned how to properly care for a canine family member. Topics discussed were the importance of spaying and neutering, vaccines, training and why companion dogs should be indoor family members, not outdoor yard animals. Taylor--recently spotlighted as the OC Register Pet of the Week, delighted all of the children with her great training and gentle manner. We give Ms. Adams two paws up for her great program!

CAL STATE FULLERTON SENIORS EXTEND HELPING HANDS!

11/19/2011 6:31:05 PM

'Tis the season of sharing and caring, and Cal State Fullerton students know how to show they care. A group of ambitious seniors designed a signature event to raise funds and awareness for our orphan shepherds. Dubbed, "Palms for Paws" by the student group, the program urged fellow students to donate old cell phones, palm pilots, iphones, blackberries, etc. to be recycled to benefit our dogs. Students also dug deep into their pockets for spare change with the desire to "change" a dog's life for the better. The "Palms for Paws" event spanned three days and drew attention from all corners of the campus. The Dean---a shepherd enthusiast himself!--even dropped by to show support!

GSROC wishes to thank the students of Dr. King's advanced Public Relations class for their devotion to our homeless dogs!

TGIF TO THE RESCUE!

11/6/2011 10:56:51 AM

GSROC was proud to be among a select group of rescue organizations selected by the TGIF restaurant chain to participate in their innaugural Pet Adoption Day. Our homeless boys Trenton (L) and Max (R) represented their fellow orphans very enthusiastically. Trenton offered his paw to everyone who passed by while Max looked on approvingly. We send our sincere thanks to TGIF in Brea for sponsoring us for this very special event!

GIFTS FROM THE HEART TO HONOR 2 ANGELS

10/5/2011 7:32:32 PM

GSROC feels humbled and honored to be the recipient of the inaugural grant from the AJ Panda Bear Foundation,
an organization created to memorialize two beautiful children, Jacob and Amanda, whose lives were cut tragically short. As a living tribute to her children, mom Lisa Gonzales decided to celebrate what would have been Jacob's 13th birthday by collecting gifts and donations to benefit our homeless dogs. Lisa asked her family, best friends and neighbors to help her in her mission, and the response was overwhelming. More than $1100 in treats, food, toys, join supplements, beds, comfort products and collars and leashes were presented to GSROC on Saturday, October 1. Accompanying Lisa for the presentation was Coco the German Shepherd--Jacob and Amanda's beloved companion. According to Lisa, Jacob loved German Shepherds, and it was only natural that the AJ Panda Bear Foundation would honor him with a gift to his favorite breed of dogs. The organization drew its name from Amanda Panda (as her mom called her), and Jacob "Bear", a favorite nickname for Jacob.

All of our shepherds, and the entire team of volunteers at German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County send our deepest gratitude and thoughts of comfort to Lisa and her family. This amazing gift will allow the beautiful spirits of Amanda and Jacob to live on in the light within each of our dog's eyes. We promise to work very hard to ensure that Jacob and Amanda are smiling.

GSROC GETS VISIT FROM MICHAEL ROSENBAUM

10/4/2011 8:28:01 PM

Celebrity Michael Rosenbaum (known for his role as Lex on Smallville) stopped by the GSROC booth with his rescued dog, Irv. Michael is a big fan of shepherds, and we are big fans of his new show, "Breaking In"!
