UPDATED BIO!Adult home needed

An alert volunteer noted that Atlas was not “acting right” this afternoon. He was lethargic and just didn’t look good. We rushed Atlas to our vet only to discover he needed emergency spleen surgery! Our vet discovered a mass on his spleen that was just about to burst! We are relieved we were able to get Atlas in for treatment in time. However, we are not in a position to handle a financial crisis such as this without help. All donations, regardless of the amount are desperately needed. Can you help Atlas? Thank you.

9 year old Atlas is a very big boy who doesn’t appear to have received much love in his previous life.   He takes awhile to warm up to new people, but once he does – he is your pal forever!  He will happily lean against you and ask for love and attention.  Considering he is a big boy- you need to brace yourself when Atlas decides to lean against you for love!

Atlas has successfully completed obedience training and likes to practice his new social skills with everyone he meets.  He takes treats more gently from your hand now, but we still  recommend a home without small children for this boy.  Atlas sometimes gets a bit intense when playing with his toys and can exert his dominance if he believes you are going to take his toy away.

Atlas has an alpha personality and would be best in a home where he can be the only doggy star.   He is such a big boy  – he is confident he is all the dog you need.

If you would like to meet Atlas, please complete the online application and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Adoption Application If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, you may submit an application online or via fax. If you choose to send a fax, please download the Adoption Application here in PDF format; fill it out and sign it. You can fax it to us at 714-773-9430.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.

Adoption Donation Our adoption donation is minimum $350.00 plus $25.00 for microchip for adult dogs and $450 plus $25.00 microchip for puppies 1 year and under. This donation is tax deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog's care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
