We have no idea how a wonderful dog like this ended up as a stray in a local animal shelter. Someone lost a very sweet and devoted companion. Beauty loves to play! She will benefit from a basic obedience class so that she can learn her doggie manners, but she is very quick to learn. She has a gorgeous, glossy solid black coat and big, sweet eyes that beg you to take her home. Despite all that she’s been through, she has a wonderful temperament.
UPDATE 10/18/05
Our vet’s report on Beauty brought some unexpected news. She has a slight case of non-contagious mange–which we are treating with medication–but she also has signs of dysplasia in BOTH of her hips. This is very sad to see in such a young and vital dog. This week, we will be taking Beauty to an orthopedic specialist for a consultation. We want to do what we can to give her relief in at least one of her hips, so we are bracing ourselves for an expensive surgery. Please check back for updates as we learn more.
UPDATE 11/26 In mid-November, Beauty had surgery to repair her weakest hip. The vet tells us that the surgery went beautifully and that Beauty will have full use of her leg in another 4-5 weeks. The biggest problem is keeping this active young girl calm and quiet to facilitate the healing process! We are hoping that Beauty will not require surgery on her other hip, but we will continue to monitor her progress. We are still in desperate need of donations to resolve our balance with the wonderful vet who performed Beauty’s surgery.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.
Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021
The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.
All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
