Bindi was picked on by the other dogs in her home because her previous owner had too many on the property. Animal control stepped in and so did GSROC – a guardian angel stepped up and offered to sponsor Bindi if we could rescue her. One look at Bindi was all it took for us to say Yes.
Bindi has been evaluated by our vet and she is in good shape. She is close to her ideal weight of 65/70 pounds and she is a strong, happy personality, with beautiful dark red and tan coloring, expressive brown eyes, full ears, docked tail and built body, especially those back haunches!
She is eager to please, please, please! Everyone who has been part of her rescue journey has remarked about what a loving, attentive dog she is. She gives kisses very readily and has the famous Dober-lean. And she absolutely loves to be on the couch next to you – she just has to have a spot on it and finds much safety there. And for sure she will sleep in bed with you, if you are up for it!
Bindi walks well on a leash and can be off leash with some training as her main focus is her person – she is attentive to your movements, she would be great for a walker or moderate runner. Bindi likes a moderate level of activity and enjoys doing fun things like chasing squirrels, riding in the car and going to outdoor coffee shops and restaurants. She does not chew or dig, barks at the right times, is house trained and knows her basic commands.
She currently lives with three other dogs in foster care and gets along with the males and females; she could be in a pack as long as the human is alpha or as a single girl. In her small dog interactions, she seems to be slightly scared to indifferent but definitely not aggressive or prey driven. We have not cat tested her yet.
With children so far, Bindi has been slightly scared to neutral, allowing for petting as she stands regally. Our best guess is that she would do well with older kids given her calmer nature and desire to please. She is not fond of a lot of commotion, so children over the age of 5 are desired.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.
Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021
The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.
All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
