Cleo is a happy 4 month old who is bouncy, wiggly and lots of fun.
She had an orthopedic condition and we believe this is the reason her former family dropped her off at the shelter. We took one look at her sweet face and could not abandon her to this fate.
Our vet has examined her and believes this condition is reversible. It may have been caused by extensive time in a crate rather than being allowed to romp and play like puppies do. Once we heard this, we were so glad we saved her! Poor little girl had been confined to a small crate for countless hours. This resulted in muscle atrophy from lack of use.
Our GSROC foster home has been determined to help Cleo overcome this and has reported Cleo is doing much, much better! Most importantly, Cleo doesn’t think there is anything wrong. She likes to run and play the day away!
She is currently in a foster home where she spends her day romping with her doggie pals. Even the cats get pulled in to play with Cleo. Her foster mom reports Cleo has quite the mischievous personality. She likes to steal kitchen towels and run through the house with her “prize”. If no towels are available, she will wait until her humans are not paying attention and then pounce on their feet!
Please remember, while puppies are very cute and endearing, they need training and love to become wonderful adults. They are cute and cuddly but also full of energy. It is a life long commitment and one that needs to be carefully thought out.
If you are interested in meeting Cleo, please complete the online application and an adoption counselor will contact you.
Adoption Application If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, you may submit an application online or via fax. If you choose to send a fax, please download the Adoption Application here in PDF format; fill it out and sign it. You can fax it to us at 714-773-9430.
Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.
Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021
The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.
All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
