This little cutie has had a very rough start in life…Darcy found herself alone and lost at a construction site in the middle of nowhere. She relied on the kindness of the workers who would feed her scraps of their lunch so she had something to eat. The weather was getting into the low 30s at night and this little girl had nothing but some old pallets for shelter.
The weather was going to be freezing and we were expecting rain and hail. One of the construction workers just could not leave Darcy behind to face a weekend without food, in bitter temperatures. He put her in his work truck where she slept while he worked. He called German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County and pleaded with us to help this little one. After all she had survived, including coyotes, going hungry, and cold wet nights without shelter, how could we say no? We couldn’t…GSROC mobilized and got this little one to safety. Darcy is just a pup of about 8 to 10 months old. She is a little thing and will probably stay on the small side. We think she might have a little something “extra” in her, but is mostly GSD (her heart sure is !!!) Darcy loves people an is very thankful for any attention. All she needs is someone to love… Who’s that lucky someone?
Now that we have spent some time with Darcy we know her to be a happy, bouncy, good-natured girl who is always up for a romp. She doesn’t seem to bear any emotional scars at all from her hard start in life. Darcy needs a basic obedience class to help her get her puppy playfulness harnessed a bit, but she is a great dog for a family that wants a social companion. She would make a GREAT dog for going to Starbucks with!

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.
Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021
The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.
All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
