Dexter’s looks take your breath away–he’s big and handsome with a very masculine appeal. He is approximately 80 pounds, and needs to build some more muscle.

Dexter is a sweet guy, at 2 1/2 years old, but he has already had a difficult life. He was removed from his home because his owner’s son was reportedly beating him for barking. Because of this he is a bit fearful of men, but is willing to try to trust if talked to gently. He loves to give little kisses and stare adoringly into your eyes. Obviously he was loved and treated well as a puppy, or he wouldn’t have such a sweet, forgiving nature.

Dexter is strong and intelligent, so an experienced shepherd owner would be ideal. He will need a yard with taller fencing, because he will jump a fence, but only to go find a canine playmate. A home with another large dog would be wonderful for Dexter.

Did we mention that he is gorgeous? With his masculine build and dark markings, Dexter’s looks are striking and he will turn heads everywhere he goes. As beautiful as he is inside AND outside, he deserves a wonderful, loving home.

Dexter is micro-chipped, neutered and fully vaccinated. To arrange to meet Dexter, please complete the online application and then contact for more information.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.

Adoption Donation

  • Adult GSDs: $395
  • Purebred GSD Puppies: $495
  • Mixed GSD Puppies: $395
  • Special Senior-to-Senior Adoptions: $295
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
