Presenting Elliott–a dashing and debonair bachelor, who was pegged at 4 years old by the shelter but in fact is between 1 and 2 years old according to our vet. Elliott has magnificent markings and a gentle nature. He takes treats very gently and he is generous with his doggie kisses. With a good diet and proper grooming, this gorgeous boy is going to turn heads everywhere he goes. Elliott has just arrived so we are getting to know him better. Our first impressions are that someone lost a very sweet and loving dog! He likes kitties and is currently in a foster home with FOUR of them!

Elliott was rescued from a public animal shelter when his time ran out. He had been picked up as a stray with no collar or tags and no one went to claim him. When faced with space constraints, the shelter contacted us and begged us to help this deserving boy.

We discovered a small pea-sized lump on Elliott’s head so we rushed him to the vet fearing that it could be a tumor. Thankfully, it is not! Elliott has a small non-threatening cyst on his head that could be removed for cosmetic purposes, but it is not posing any health risk to him. Because we reserve our meager resources for essential surgeries, we will not be able to remove this small flaw in his otherwise gorgeous appearance. We will leave it up to his future family to decide how to proceed. You could hear a collective sigh of relief among the volunteers when we learned that he was not in danger!

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.

Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021

The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)

This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
