12/06 UPDATE-
What a joy to see this wonderful dog come to life! Hailey is making tremendous progress at her foster home.
You may remember Hailey when she came in as a scrawny, sad dog found wondering the streets. Our best guess was that she was confined in a cage and used for breeding. When she was no longer of service, she was “kicked to the curb” like so much trash. The poor thing had obviously had a litter recently, her skin was itching from a yeast infection, her ears had scabs from fly bites, she had “elephant skin” on her elbows from lying on concrete for extended periods, and she had lost her front teeth trying to chew her way out of her imprisonment.
When Hailey was rescued, she was taken to a vet for assessment and medication was started for her skin condition. After three months in her foster home with proper nutrition, medication, regular exercise, canine and human companionship, and a great deal of love, Hailey is blossoming into a beautiful German Shepherd with a spirit awakening from the depths of neglect.
Hailey has regained a good amount of her fur cover and muscle tone. She bounces with joy when her foster dad comes home and follows him around the house to help with chores. Hailey dashes out the doggie door with her foster siblings to chase away birds or squirrels that venture into their backyard. When the front door opens, Hailey bolts out to the car to wait for her chauffeur to drive her to the dog park where she runs with renewed puppy-like enthusiasm. Eventually, she partners with her foster sister (who is a former GSROC rescue) to herd the other dogs at the dog park in an orderly group.
Now that her noble spirit and physical presence are mending, she is ready to join a family as a devoted companion.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.
Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021
The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.
All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
