Huggie Bear

male

Age: 7 months

Huggie Bear is a fluffy buddle of joy who doesn’t have any idea that he looks different from the other puppies. He is a sable boy with a thick, healthy coat, and he instantly loves everyone that he meets. Huggie got his name because he wrapped his paws around the legs of his rescuer and refused to let go! Everyone at the shelter was so happy that German Shepherd Rescue OC would take this little guy with the deformed eye.

We will have Huggie examined by a specialist to determine the extent of the injury and whether or not anything can be done to save the eye. Regardless of whether he has two eyes or one, Huggie Bear is just plain adorable and will make someone a wonderful, loving companion.

UPDATE 12/1/05 Our vet believes that Huggie sustained a serious injury to his eye either through another dog’s bite or through someone’s harsh treatment. Unfortunately, there is nothing that we can do to save the eye. He is slated for surgery this week and we are confident that, being the love bug that he is, he will bounce back very well.

UPDATE 12/8/05 Our vet could not save Huggie’s eye and had to remove it. It appears as though Huggie had lost his sight in that eye quite a while ago, so he doesn’t seem to mind his new look. He gets around beautifully and never slows down! Come meet this guy–you won’t be sorry!

Huggie has stollen the hearts of all of our volunteers. We are all hoping that he will get an extra special family in time to wait for Santa in his new home.

Adoption Donation

  • Adult GSDs: $395
  • Purebred GSD Puppies: $495
  • Mixed GSD Puppies: $395
  • Special Senior-to-Senior Adoptions: $295
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
