Jeremy is a very handsome black and red male shepherd, approximately 4 years old, with a short, neat coat. His looks and confirmation suggest that he is from German import lines, and the tatoo in his ear implies that he is from a quality breeder. Unfortunately, thus far, we have been unable to track the tatoo, but we are will continue to try to learn more about Jeremy’s origin.

Jeremy came to America from Hong Kong hoping that “the Land of Opportunity” would bring him a loving new home with people who would treat him kindly. He has endured significant hardship, suffering and instability in his short life. There is nothing harder on a German Shepherd than to lose the security of a home and Jeremy has lost several homes by no fault of his own. He has NEVER known what it is like to live indoors with people who care about him. In one home, Jeremy was beaten regularly by an abusive man, which has left him fearful of certain men. As a result of his beating, Jeremy has some misallignment of his hips. We also learned that Jeremy’s tail had been broken at a young age when someone slammed it in a door. Because no one treated his injury when it occurred, Jeremy’s tail has a permanent bend in it; it is possible that it may have to be amputated some day but for now, he is not experiencing pain.

Jeremy’s next situation was not much better: He was removed from the bad home by a kind person, however he then lived in a boarding kennel in Hong Kong for over a year, where he stared at nothing but concrete and chain link from his tiny run. Thankfully, our compassionate volunteers in Hong Kong were alerted to Jeremy’s plight and they rushed in to save him from his tortured existance. A 14-hour plane ride brought Jeremy to The Golden State, where his future is already looking much brighter.

In spite of the cruelties that he has endured, Jeremy is a sweet-natured, affectionate and intelligent boy who loves to go for walks. He did very well at his first adoption event and seemed to appreciate all of the attention. He likes other dogs. We are looking for a very special, very compassionate home for Jeremy because he has never experienced love. Please help us to show him the beauty that life can bring.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.

Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021

The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)

This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
