If you’re looking for a loving constant companion, Lexi is the dog for you! Although we don’t know many details about her past, she was obviously someone’s beloved pet. She shows all the signs of having lead a comfortable, indoor life being well-cared for.

Somehow, though, Lexi became separated from her owner and was reported as a stray in a residential neighborhood where she anxiously approached people who were getting into their cars to try and hitch a ride in their back seats! After animal control picked her up, she waited at the public shelter for nearly two months for someone to claim her, but no one came. The shelter staff contacted us hoping we could find this wonderful dog a home. She always seems to be looking for someone, and one of the attendants told our volunteer, “Help us find this wonderful girl the new person she is looking for who will love her for the rest of her life!”

Our veterinarian thinks Lexi could be as young as four, but is no older than six. She’s a very loving, quiet dog who wants to stay close to you. She loves to go for walks and ride in the car, preferring to sit quietly on the seat with just her nose poking out the window to catch the breeze. She gets along well with other large, non-aggressive dogs and may even be good with smaller dogs as well. On her visit to the vet, she met a small dog on the way out and seemed completely comfortable with the small dogs bouncing and barking. If she is not already housebroken, we feel Lexi will be easily trained as she prefers to do her business outside rather than soil her kennel run.

Lexi needs to have a home where someone can be with her most of the time, however, as she has been very traumatized by being abandoned and will jump the fence if left alone outside.

As with all our dogs, Lexi is spayed and up-to-date on her vaccinations

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.

Adoption Donation

  • Adult GSDs: $395
  • Purebred GSD Puppies: $495
  • Mixed GSD Puppies: $395
  • Special Senior-to-Senior Adoptions: $295
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
