When we first learned about Mitzi 3 years ago, we moved heaven and earth to bring this beautiful senior girl in to our care. This elegant 8 year old princess had been virtually abandoned by her family and was wasting away in a filthy yard with very little human interaction. It seems that Mitzi’s owner fell ill and all but forgot that she had a loving dog that depended on her for the most basic of needs. Mitzi had developed a serious skin infection as a result of parasites, and she had infections in both ears. The sparkle in her eye was gone and she looked like she had given up hope of ever being loved again.
Fortunately, a wonderful person learned of Mitzi’s plight and begged German Shepherd Rescue to help Mitzi regain her health and her dignity. If we didn’t help this deserving senior, WHO WOULD?
Mitzi was placed in a wonderful home for the past few years, but has now come back to us due to some unforeseen circumstances. She is affectionate and well-mannered, and is housebroken. Mitzi likes other dogs her own size and she knows how to “sit”, “shake”, and “lie down” on command.
Mitzi is currently in a foster home with other dogs. She gets along nicely with them and would like to find a home with at least one canine family member if possible. This noble dog served both her families faithfully for many years and deserves to have someone dote on her and tell her what a good girl she is. Can you please help us to give her a fairytale ending? If you are interested in meeting her, please complete our online adoption application.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.
Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021
The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.
All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
