“Am I a handsome boy or what?”

Three year old Rex is a gorgeous black and red male who greeted everyone who passed his shelter cage with a tail wag and a happy face. He wondered why none of the nice people that he saw were choosing him, and he kept trying to show how special he was. Because there were so many other dogs in the shelter trying to make their best impression, Rex was overlooked again and again. Fortunately, when all hope seemed lost, a kind volunteer from German Shepherd Rescue hurried in to save his life.

Rex is friendly with all the other dogs and people he meets. He is a little unsure and bewildered in new situations, but he opens up beautifully once he knows that no one is going to hurt him.

Overall, Rex is a pretty mellow boy who loves to lean against you and bury his head in your lap. He enjoys playing with his squeaky toys and the German Shepherd foster brothers in his foster home. Rex will provide someone with unconditional love for as long as he lives. Can you provide him with the same love in return?

Currently, Rex is in a foster home. To arrange to meet Rex, please complete the online application to expedite the adoption process and then contact Karen at k_dekker@earthlink.net for more details.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.

Adoption Donation

  • Adult GSDs: $395
  • Purebred GSD Puppies: $495
  • Mixed GSD Puppies: $395
  • Special Senior-to-Senior Adoptions: $295
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
