Shadow is the perfect companion: he could join you for a play at dog beach or hike off leash for miles once he’s conditioned again, yet he is mellow around the home and walks very nicely on leash around the neighborhoods. He is great meeting other dogs although living with a very dominate male might not be the best match. He doesn’t have good kitty manners yet, but is great with kids. He was around kids being loud, running by with scooters and was unphased. Kids walking up to him and hugging him is something he seemed to like.

Shadow takes treats amazingly gently, is happy in a social setting sharing kisses with people and knows his sit, stay and down commands. Shadow travels wonderfully as well. Right now, you can see that he’s a bit stressed from being abandoned by his owner and needs some TLC, a bath and good nutrition to remind him that he’s loved. With good care and kindness, Shadow will quickly become a happy, healthy amazing dog!

His perfect home likes to take him on car rides, likes dogs that think they’re a blanket, likes to get out and walk, enjoys tennis balls around the home, and just loves to have the company of a ‘people oriented’ dog. He would be fine with other dogs, particularly any females or passive but confident males. He is not an aggressor, but still he has a confident personality, so his best bi-ped companion will be aware of that and appreciate Shadow as part of a wonderful home harmony.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.

Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021

The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)

This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
