This story broke our hearts and turned our stomachs: 18-month old Silas was rescued from a situation where he was being used as 'bait' in a dog fighting ring.

Adoption Application

Affectionately being called “Sparky” by his foster dad, gentle, frightened Silas has not known love or peace in his short life. But, we’re determined to change that beginning right away. Silas is a pure white shepherd mixed with something smaller. His head is scarred and scabbed with multiple bite wounds, which we are attending to. He also has some wounds on his body, and he is desperately underweight. He is somewhat hand shy, but he wants desperately to trust someone–to bond with them and be their special boy.

Silas looks more like a sheep than a shepherd…he is small in stature, probably weighing around 45 pounds. His wounds are recovering, and he is learning to relax in his foster home. Silas likes other non-aggressive dogs and would probably do best in a home with a canine friend that could teach him to play. He would also appreciate it if his family were home a lot.

Home Visit

WWe require a home visit prior to any dog being placed. In some cases, we may accept a virtual home visit using photos and videos.

Adoption Donation for All Dogs and Puppies:

$495

This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
