Katie and Tara are beautiful AKC girls who are very sad at being homeless. Practically identical, the girls are from a breeder called Shepherds of Leybuorne in Arroyo Grande. They had been used as breeding dogs until a kind woman took them as her personal companions. Katie is 6 and Tara is almost 8, but they both have a great deal of energy and sparkle. The girls have been very well kept, are housebroken and accustomed to using a doggie door. They have had basic leash training but could use a little reminder course. Both girls have been around small children and will patiently tolerate them, but they truly prefer a quieter household.

The girls love to cuddle together in a large varikennel when they are kicking back. They are both fearful of fireworks. Katie does NOT like cats or opossums that sit on the wall and stare at her! She will make sure that they know that she’s there to protect the yard from intruding critters!

The kind person who took in the girls after their breeder no longer wanted them has fallen ill with a progressive disease that has her in and out of the hospital frequently. She was devastated to lose her babies but German Shepherd Rescue has promised her that we will be sure that they get a wonderful home–preferably together if at all possible.

Katie’s registered name is Leybourne’s Angel Katrina and Tara’s registered name is Leybourne’s Tara Lapinski. We have learned that when Tara is completely relaxed and enjoying a good belly rub she snorts like a pig out of sheer contentment!

Both of the girls have brithdays coming up–wouldn’t it be great if they could be celebrating together in a brand new home? Katie was born on 11/19/98 (a Scorpio) and Tara was born on 12/15/97 (a Sagitarius).

Please help us show this good person that not everyone has to have a puppy…we know that there are wonderful animal lovers who would be honored to have such loving, beautiful, well-behaved girls in their family.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.

Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021

The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)

This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.

All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
