Voltaire is a 3 year old neutered male who is full of energy and life. Voltaire has a fine pedigree and is from French and Mexican Malinois bloodlines. His owner bought him as a pup in Puerto Rico from a couple who showed both their male and female and decided to have a litter.
Voltaire is a nice boy and would prefer to be the alpha male. His best mate would be a younger female that doesn’t have a strong alpha drive. Voltaire knows his commands and walks at heel. He does get a little excited when he is on leash and sees other dogs. He has been socialized with people and other dogs and is not dog aggressive as long as the other dogs are friendly.
Voltaire’s ideal home is one where he gets to spend lots of time with his owner. He is not cage trained but might have to be if he is to be left alone for long periods of time. He cannot be left tied up for prolonged periods of time as his Malinois instinct requires him to be busy, working, jumping, climbing, hiking or other fun activities. As with most all Malinois, he needs to be continually challenged or he can make up his own fun activities to do like climbing fences. Agility training would suit him perfectly and he would probably be good at it.
Voltaire has a small animal prey drive and caution must always be exercised around cats and small children. Like many Malinois, Voltaire has a natural protective instinct toward his family.
He is people friendly and lovable. He likes to “say Hi” to strangers but he needs to be introduced slowly. It’s always best to let Voltaire approach than the other way around.
The owner travels quite a bit and does not have the time required to give to this great, loyal partner and wants him to have a great home.

Home Visit Prior to any dog going home, we do require a home visit to ensure that your environment is safe and secure. Once your home has been approved, the adoption can move forward.
Adoption Donation In light of the rising vet care costs associated with Giardia tests and boarding at vets, we are raising our adoption donation for adult GSDs to $395.00 starting on July 1, 2021
The adoption donations for other dogs will remain the same — $475.00 for purebred puppies, $375 for mixed puppies. (On a case by case basis, e.g. senior for senior, we will place a senior for $275.00 with a senior.)
This donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law and helps to offset the costs that we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. The minimum adoption donation does not entirely cover the investments that we have made in the dogs, so if you are in a position to give more, we would be honored to receive your additional donation. All adoption donations go directly toward the needs of our dogs.
All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccines and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion.
