Jack Pitts is an extraordinary individual. Not only is he an Eagle Scout, he’s a young man with a warm heart for dogs in need. When Jack learned that many of our boarding dogs were without elevated beds, he wasted no time getting to work. As part of his community assistance project for Troop 1180, Jack raised funds on his own to buy the supplies necessary to make 18 German Shepherd-sized elevated cots. The cots get the dogs up off the concrete and give them comfy resting spots in which to lounge and sunbathe. Once he had secured the funds, Jack purchased waterproof materials and single-handedly built the 18 beds. The beds required sawing, cutting, building and fastening, as well as transportation to the boarding kennel. Each step of the way was an investment of love and commitment from Jack, who took pride and comfort in seeing the dogs’ reactions to their new furnishings!
On behalf of the entire GSROC organization, HUGE thanks to Jack Pitts and his family, and to Troop 1180 for these thoughtful and practical gifts!
