Ziggy is a cute little puppy who suffered a broken leg and fractured pelvis after being hit by a car. The shelter notified us that due to overcrowding, he would be euthanized if we could not save him.
Our volunteer dropped everything and rushed to his side. although he is in tremendous pain, he is a friendly guy and gave our volunteer lots of puppy kisses! He settled right down in her car for the long ride home. He knew better days were just over the horizon.
UPDATE 10/11/2013 Ziggy’s injury is more severe than we originally thought. Our vet says this means his recuperation will be longer and more complicated than originally thought. All donations, regardless of amount are greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: 12/16/2013 – Ziggy is doing very well in his foster home. His leg has healed and he makes friends everywhere he goes. He is almost housebroken and gets along well with the cats in the neighborhood.
UPDATE: 1/3/2014 – Ziggy is doing well, but may need one if not more surgeries to correct the injury to his leg. He is a sweet boy who will need a quiet home – he will not be able to run marathons or be an exercise buddy.
UPDATE: 6/4/2014
Ziggy needs a second surgery on his hip to reduce his discomfort. He came to us with some mal-formed bones and as he has grown, the bones will need to be reworked. Our vet would like us to have this work done within the next 2 weeks with a surgery estimate of $1500.00
including xrays. We looked in our pockets and found that they were empty, but we don’t want to delay Ziggy’s surgery. We need help from our fellow shepherd lovers so that Ziggy can finally find his forever home!
