Happy Ending

Nothing makes our volunteers and supporters happier than seeing how our alumnae dogs are thriving in their forever homes! We love to get regular updates and photos of your adopted dogs so that we can share them! Please take a moment to submit a Happy Ending photo of your dog with a small note about how he/she is doing!

Roxy is the boss and also the naughty one…
Woodrow and Roxy came into my life two years ago. I found the GSR website and immediately fell for Woody! His crinkled ears made him so cute. I was told by his foster mom that he had a weak rear leg (his legs are still weak, but he’s now able to walk about 1 1/2 […]

Coach has been on the ski boat a few times now…
Coach is just such a good dog! When we’re eating dinner he lays there along with Brandi and behaves so well, he has never taken food off the table or counter. And believe me we have turned our backs on many slabs of ribs and steaks while Coach is right there. He has never had […]

Dotz has stopped whining and loves her new pal Andy…
I have been meaning to send you these pics of Andy at his new home. He has made himself at home pretty quick. We all love him to death, except maybe my cats, but we are working on that. He is an wonderful addition to our family and adds much love, energy and excitement!!! Dotz […]

Princess has even helped my male dog learn to play
I have been meaning to write you for a few month now and let you know how Princess is doing. I always seem to think about it when we are out camping, which is what we were doing last week. Anyway, Princess is doing well and has settled into the family. We haven’t had any […]

Jessie protects our property by barking at all the varmints
I’m writing to give you an update on Jessie. She has turned out to be a wonderful dog, and we all love her. She gets along very well with the other two dogs and has become an integral member of the pack. Just like the other two, she protects our property by barking at all […]

Our little boy is so lucky to have Lola!
We are so grateful to have found GSROC. We lost our beloved shepherd mix, Spencer, to cancer over the summer and we were all heartbroken. Having two young children we thought it would be very difficult to find just the right dog to take into our family. We needed a dog we could trust with […]

Kitri now thinks she is the queen and the other two are her ladies in waiting!
When our Beloved Petra died of lymphoma we were devastated, It happened so quickly. My wife was so sad and when I said lets get another puppy, she said It’s too soon. Well I went online looking for puppies and found gsroc. There was a dog by the name of Roxy on the site and […]

Willow howls and Grady answers…
Hi Shawn, We took Grady and Willow through doggie training school and they graduated tops in their class. In January, they will start Intermediate Class. The hardest part is that they are sooooooo in love with each other that they don’t want to be separated in class while one does his lesson and the other […]

Thanks to GSROC I am a spoiled rotten little monster…
Hi everybody !!! Sam here (formally Rocky) I just wanted to tell you how happy I am with my new forever “pack.” When I got to the animal shelter (really scary place !!!) they thought no one would want me because my legs are kinda messed up. They called GSROC and I was whisked into […]

Another dog to our pack?? Are you insane?!…
When my husband told me he wanted to add a German Shepherd to our pack, I thought he was insane. Another dog? We already had three dogs, and three kids. But I knew he HAD to have one, and decided we should get one from a rescue, since there are so many GSD’s in need […]

I enjoy sitting in my special chair and watch movies…
My name is Theodore James Barker, II (or TJ for short).  I was adopted by my mom on May 1st, 2004. My name then was Dallas. When I came to Riverside with her, I was too frightened to go outside to walk or to come out from behind a chair in the living room.  I […]

Thanks for all you do at German Shepherd Rescue!
Oh my gosh, I can’t tell YOU how happy I am with Stryder. I never imagined that I would ever get another dog anytime soon, but somehow Stryder just crawled his way into my heart without me even realizing it.  I don’t know what it is about him or what he did, but he just […]

She’s brought companionship to my 17-year old kitty…
Hi Mary, Just wanted to touch base and let you know Roxanne (aka Lauren) is doing just fine! She enjoys watching TV, curling up with her kitty-cat, and going on road trips with him, too! Thought you’d get a kick out of these pix… She’s such a joy to have around, and she’s brought companionship […]

Maxx has decided he likes to chase bugs…
Hello and thanks to all of you for connecting us with these two wonderful dogs!!  It was so good to meet and talk with you all at Petsmart Saturday.  We are so happy to have these pups in our home, and it’s so gratifying to see them respond to security and love! Maxx starting eating […]

I can’t imagine life without my little sister, Belliegirl…
Dear German Shepherd Rescue: I don’t know if you remember me–I was at one time named “Bear”.  My previous owners had dumped me at the Riverside Animal Shelter because I had gotten “too big”.  I never quite understood why they would over-feed me and then cast me aside because I was overweight, but that is […]
